Time for Zaftig?

Proud of inbetweenie, blogger and designer Mandy Fierens. She wants to start her own label Zaftig with your help! “Zaftig is a clothing company for women sizes 10 (40 EU) and above. Help me bring on additional designers to create two other dress options!” Essentially, Zaftig will have something for every women that is a size 10 and above. Mandy: “I read complaints from women who want to dress fashion forward but are forced into plus size clothing brands that their mothers wear.”
With this last thing, I just can confirm… time for fashion clothes for women above size 10 (40 EU).

Tim Gunn: ‘plus-size advocate’ and Weight Watchers’ style consultant

Tim Gunn, mentor on Project Runway is going to have a daily show The Revolution on ABC. He calls himself a ‘plus-size advocate’ and he signed on as Weight Watchers’ “style consultant” last January. This sounds weird to me. He embraces plus size, and at the same time wants the women to lose weight…

Question of Marie Claire on plus size designers:
“It’s so difficult. Have you seen most of the plus-size sections out there? It’s horrifying. Whoever’s designing for plus-size doesn’t get it. The entire garment needs to be reconceived. You can’t just take a size 8 and make it larger. In my travels, I’ve been an advocate for larger women. I’ve been talking to designers, but only a half-dozen make an effort. Most say, ‘I don’t want a woman who’s a size 10 or 11 wearing my clothes.’ Well, shame on you! It’s not realistic. We need to address real women with real needs. At Parsons, we had fit models that ranged in size from 2 to 10. We’ve got to reconceive clothes for all sizes.”

He’s considering designing a plus-size line…. but then please,Tim… don’t let all plus size women lose weight!

More fashion-diversity shoots!

A model in size 10 and an inbetweenie in size 14! This should be a perfect mix for fashionshoots in magazines. Not only for commercial shoots but even for high end fashion. More women will recognize themselves in fashion magazines. These sisters did this shoot for Cosmopolitan Australia, 2 years ago. I also did a shoot like this 2 years ago. It’s time to do more shoots in this style!
